Under the Tuscan sun

Take a break

There’s no better place to treat yourself to an indulgent meal than at The Palazzo’s signature restaurant, Medeo. The Tuscan-inspired decor elements – from opulent marble floors and plush carpets to ornate wrought iron and delicately painted vaulted ceilings – bring the romance of Italy to Fourways.

A concise fine-dining menu of Mediterranean flavours paired with sought-after limited-release wines bought on auction adds the final touch. Your choice from the Champagne selection is the perfect accompaniment to any special occasion.
Begin your dining experience at Medeo with an aperitif or a fine whisky at the upstairs bar, overlooking the spacious dining area below. Once your appetite is sufficiently piqued, take your seat at a table inside or choose to enjoy your meal al fresco out on the spacious terrace. You’ll want to savour every moment of your meal, soaking up the gorgeous views out over The Palazzo’s manicured grounds and water features.

Medeo restaurant is open for buffet breakfasts, à la carte lunches and dinners, lavish high teas and special Sunday lunch buffets. The kitchen will also prepare light meals for guests to enjoy around The Palazzo’s swimming pool, for the ultimate in carefree living.

Indulgent dining

With an outstanding selection of classic dishes, Medeo’s menu is a celebration of Italian food culture – lunch and dinner both become noteworthy occasions with cuisine prepared by world-class chefs.

For starters, the dish of crispy calamari with Pernod aioli and pickled onion is a winner. In the mood for a meaty main? Try the oxtail gnocchi, the braised lamb shank with wine-infused broth, or the succulent pork belly. Or, for something a little bit more adventurous, you can sample veal piccata with white-wine and lemon reduction.

Seafood-lovers can take their pick from the grilled sole with rocket and caper-butter sauce, the puttanesca-style Scottish salmon or the delightful prawn and pumpkin ravioli pockets. Vegetarians can dine on the beetroot ravioli or mixed forest mushroom risotto. Whatever you fancy, all of the main dishes are served with your choice of potato purée, potato au gratin, seasonal vegetables, or creamed or sautéed spinach.

The tantalising dessert menu provides something sweet to round off your meal.

If you will be visiting in the afternoon, treat yourself to a decadent high tea of savoury and sweet treats. On the menu are freshly baked scones with jam and cream; mini pies; and lemon-meringue bars.

Early risers are welcome to greet the new day with Medeo’s buffet breakfast spread, served between 6:30 and 11 am. Fortify yourself with hot full English breakfast or cold continental breakfast options.
